Peabody, Salem and Marblehead's best picnic spots

Grab and Go to the Park! National Eat Outside Day is the perfect excuse to pack up a picnic and head to the nearest park for an outdoor feast!

Three of the best spots for a picnic in Peabody, Salem and Marblehead? My family loves:

  1. Crocker Park - 188 Washington Street, Marblehead
    • A beautiful park located on Marblehead harbor with plenty of benches to sit while observing the boats. There's also a pavilion and gazebo plus bathrooms. It's the perfect setting to watch the sunrise or sunset!
  2. Salem Willows - 165 Fort Avenue, Salem
    • A pretty park with a lot of nostalgia! Grab a picnic table and unpack your lunch or stop at one of the to-go restaurants on site. Don't forget to grab a popcorn at E.W. Hobbs and ice cream at Holy Cow Ice Cream and sit down to people-watch. There's a perfect view of the harbor and a short path to walk around. You can let the kids ride the kiddie rides or have fun at the arcade and win some prizes too!
  3. Lt. Ross Park and the Independence Greenway - 36 Johnson Street, Peabody
    • Spend some time at the playground with the kids and eat your packed lunch. The ice cream truck makes frequent stops here for an afternoon treat. You can also take a lovely walk or bike ride on the trail and watch the wildlife until you find your way to a bench or set of chairs. Either way makes for a peaceful day!

Take it to the backyard

Rather eat at home? Order takeout and take that picnic right outside on your front stoop, or back lawn! For an at-home outdoor dining feast, my family typically orders takeout from:

  1. Atha's Roast Beef & Pizza - Peabody
  2. Engine House Pizza - Salem
  3. Fresca Pizza & Pasta - Marblehead

If time is tight? A simple PBJ on the porch will do the trick just fine!

No matter how you do it, celebrate National Eat Outside Day this year! If you take part, make sure to tag Macaroni KID Peabody-Salem-Marblehead in social media posts so we can see how you celebrated in Peabody, Salem or Marblehead!
